The End Is the Beginning Is the End

It has been an interesting 4 months of flash, flash and more flash! Despite prior but limited knowledge on Adobe Flash, it was definitely a challenge for me at the beginning. Especially when I decided to take on the challenge to do the project alone.
Not forgetting the times when I regretted being so determined about wanting to see my concept pitch being presented as a film.

Much has been learnt through the process, and I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to work on my own concept pitch, and to see it being completed as a film surely warms my heart. (awww..) It is certainly more exciting to see how much the film has developed right from the very beginning. The low-quality graphics and animatics of the dislocated arms were really embarrassing when I think about it now!

Despite the countless sleepless nights to complete the animation, the sense of achievement and satisfaction makes it all worthwhile. Indeed, the end is a new beginning, and I am thrilled to see how much more I can accomplished in the next film! :)

slowly but surely.

For our tutorial today, we were taught how to create the flash folio, basically animating the buttons. With prior knowledge from Imaging Our World two years back, it went on rather smoothly without any hiccups! ;)

Anyway, with the feedback from the posters and still productions that was submitted last week, the main challenge that I am facing now is the better integration of the characters and the environment, which proves to be a very critical factor in improving the realism of the animation. Also, I am working on improving the graphics, particularly creating a fiercer and scarier look for the TV.

Besides, the simpler scenes (for e.g. the Baby's crawl cycle) are currently in progress, and bits and pieces of the animation are beginning to take place! Slowly, but surely.

Preparing for this assignment was rather fun, dealing with the graphical effects especially. It also drives me to think and consider about ways to emphasize on the emotions of the characters, and to create the dark ambience for the animation. The only problem that I encountered (which is a MAJOR one), is the quality of print. The colours on the initially printed posters turned out to be different from what it appears on screen. (much darker that is) So from this, my advice is to ensure that the colour settings/adjustments are set to the appropriate one. Or at least be sure to finish early to allow sufficient time for a reprint.

Posters-in-progress

This is the initial concept of the posters, with the remaining one featuring the tv's antenna. (Text to be finalised.)

This is the 2nd concept, with closer perspectives and images on the featured tv, in the other 2 posters.

Grr, I guess i have to finalise the concepts really soon since there is tonnes of touching up to do! :o
